As a team we are very hands on. Charlie rides out every morning and is around the horses all day. He knows each horse inside out.
The Trainer - Charlie Longsdon

Charlie grew up in the world of Eventing, and successfully competed up to two* level. Having always had the ambition to train racehorses from a very young age, Charlie spent time gaining valuable work experience with Oliver Sherwood and Nigel Twiston-Davies. While at University, Charlie spent the summer breaking in youngsters on a game reserve in Kenya, later joining Kim Bailey’s yard in Lambourn as his assistant.

In 2001, he joined Nicky Henderson at Seven Barrows and during this time he won the ‘Alex Scott Memorial Fund Assistant Trainer’s Scholarship’ (2004), which took him to the United States, where he worked for the champion flat trainer – Todd Pletcher, and where he had a very close involvement with subsequent Breeder’s Cup winners Ashado and Speightstown.

During his time at Seven Barrows he has played a leading role in the yard’s success and has been involved with multiple Grade 1 and Cheltenham festival winners such as Bacchanal, Marlborough and more recently Trabolgan and Fondmort.

Sarah Rippon "Ripper"

Sarah grew up around horses and has competed in many spheres including show jumping, eventing, team chasing and polo. From Bristol University she worked at Tweenhills Stud for David Redvers and briefly rode out for Venetia Williams. Having gained a place on the BHB Graduate Training Programme Sarah went straight to Newmarket for her placement with the Racecourse Holdings Trust (RHT). Whilst in Newmarket she rode out for various trainers, but mainly William Jarvis and Neil King. When her placement finished, Newmarket Racecourse offered her a job in the PR and Marketing department working alongside the Press Officer, Alistair Haggis, and the Marketing Manager. Sarah jumped at the chance to work right at the heart of the racing industry and took up the role immediately.

Sarah then moved to Gloucestershire to take up the position as Pupil Assistant with the National Hunt trainer Richard Phillips who is based at Adlestrop. When Charlie announced his intention of taking out his license, Sarah just couldn’t turn down the exciting opportunity to help get the show on the road.

Elizabeth Card "Dibby" - Head Girl

In 1991 Dibby entered the world of eventing, training with Robert Lemieux and Jon Thelwall where she successfully competed at 2* level. Her commitment and drive naturally led her to set up her own yard producing youngsters and schooling for clients as well teamchasing and hunting. Whilst running a busy yard Dibby also managed to fit in some freelance work for Bill Smith  where she gained invaluable experience breaking in youngsters, furthering her horsemanship.

In 2000 Dibby was offered the chance to ride for Adele Scherott, holding the position of head girl whilst eventing professionally. This opportunity was recognised by other owners who sort Dibby to pre-train and re-train their racehorses.

It was at this time that Dibby wished to explore a career in the racing industry and moved to work for Alan King at Barbury Castle. In 2005 she was offered the position of head girl/ assistant trainer for Mrs Hambro at Cotswold Stud.

One year later Dibby was approached by Charlie Longsdon to join him in setting up his new venture- an exciting chance she couldn't refuse. She is a meticulous Head Girl and sets an extremely high standard.
