Germany Calling kicked the weekend off in style by winning impressively the Ice Cream Direct Handicap Chase at Doncaster by 15 lengths under Graham Watters. He was given an enterprising ride by Graham from the front which streched the field out and put pressure on their jumping. He likes good ground and fortunately it had dried out enough for him to enjoy the ground without puddles!
The following day, Snow Leopardess ran a fantastic race to win the Julie Hayes 40th / Rebecca Jones 18th Birthday Mares' "National Hunt" Novices Hurdle back at Doncaster. She is a lovely filly who won a Listed bumper at Gowran Park in September prior to going hurdling. She has plenty of class to progress further.
I was delighted with Our Keampfer's run at Newbury in the Grade 2 Fuller's London Pride Novices' Chase, he jumped very well and the winner looks to be a useful sort who had obviously learnt plenty for his run at Chepstow. Coologue ran a good race for a long way in the Hennessy, it was a step up in class for him and it is a tough race.
