Finally...

I can talk about Our Kaempfer again....!! He has been promising to run a big race for ages and was arguably unlucky in last season's Pertemps Final, but on Saturday he showed how good he was and won very cosily at Kempton. The only frustrating thing to take out of the race was that the real aim had been The Rowland Meyrick at Wetherby on Boxing Day and it would have been fantastic to have won a big pot with him there. But that was not to be with him unseating his jockey early on, so notching up his second win at Kempton was almost as rewarding. Apart from Boxing Day, it was the first time he had run over 3m since last season and it showed with him travelling superbly the whole way round under a great ride from Sam T-D. Apart from a little mistake at the last, he looked very impressive....

The question will be where do we go from here?? I think the handicapper will have a large say in our plans, so I will have to wait for tomorrow's revised mark........He won very comfortably by seven lengths off 138, so a 10lbs hike could easily be possible. If that was the case, should he go back into graded company as a Novice or stick to handicaps but off a heavy weight...??

We might of not had any more winners last week, but I cannot complain with how they ran. Tree of Liberty ran a very game second at Doncaster, Wilberdragon was a much improved 3rd at Leicester  as was Volt Face at Huntingdon. None of them were beaten more than 4 lengths and all of them will go very close next time - not the winners we want, but good runs nevertheless.
