A busy weekend of racing with horses travelling all around the country, and we are still searching for that first winner of the new season. It started off with The Vollan at Market Rasen on Friday who was back over the chase fences, this time under Brian Hughes, and he jumped well. He just never picked up off the bridle. Saturday saw The Wise Traveller make the long trip up the Hexham, where the ground looked awful, and many were not finishing their races. Trevor was running a good race until he appeared to stop quickly three out with Brian Hughes, he is off to have his wind checked early this week. Train Hill travelled up the road to Warwick for his seasonal debut with Kielan Woods on board, he jumped well on ground that was not suitable. You would not think this time of year they would be calling an inspection for standing water on the course. There was lots of rain on Saturday, and Warwick passed the inspection and bypassed the second last hurdle. To round the weekend off, we had Jamacho head over to Ludlow for his seasonal debut with Will Kennedy on board. Jamacho now being off a mark of 125 finds life slightly difficult, however he travelled with great enthusiasm and we are excited for another season with our summer star.

It is just the one runner today at Southwell evening meeting. Glencassley runs in the 6.50 Novice Hurdle, making his debut over the obstacles. He has done lots of schooling at Marcus Foley’s and we are looking forward to seeing how he gets on under Brian Hughes. At Sedgefield on Tuesday, we have Beyond The Clouds making his first appearance over the chase fences, he seems to school well at home so it will be great to see how he gets on. Again, Brian Hughes takes the ride. The plan was for Nightfly to head up to North too, however she has had a slight set back and will now not run. Worcester on Wednesday sees Champagne Noir with Sam Twiston Davies on board, and Raven Court with Brian Hughes. There are then no entries until the weekend, which include Calvario, Midnight Jewel, and Punctuation.

Almazhar Garde headed out for his summer holidays today, and Glimpse Of Gala is off to Claire Hart Equine for some light schooling before her holidays.
