Vivas ran a cracking race at Chepstow on Friday under Paul O’Brien. He jumped off just behind the pace, which was set at a strong gallop, and slowly creeped into the race to finish a brilliant 2nd. It was so great to see him show some enthusiasm in a hot contested veterans’ race. It was a brilliant atmosphere at Chepstow with some fantastic racing on for the ‘opener’ of the National Hunt season. The weather was fantastic over the weekend, although it is now considerably colder, and winter is on the horizon. However, it still looks like a dry week and that there is not much rain around resulting in drying ground.
The team were delighted to be treated to breakfast rolls this morning, a very thoughtful gesture from Lyrical Genius’ owner John & Mary Thackray and the team very much appreciated it. It was a great treat after Lyrical Genius won his bumper at Warwick in fantastic style the other week.
It looks a busy week ahead with runners and entries. Tomorrow we have Do Wanna Know and Maxi Jazz heading off to Huntingdon. Paul O’Brien and Charlie Deutsch will take the rides. Do Wanna Know has spent a month with intensive schooling at Marcus Foley’s so we are hoping for a good start to his seasonal campaign. On Wednesday Glencassley has been declared for Wetherby in the Novice Hurdle where Brian Hughes will be on board. On Thursday there are entries for Maninsane, Supremely Lucky and Stroll On By at Carlisle. The ground currently stands at Good, Good to Firm on the chase course and we are unlikely to run on the firm ground.
Friday we have Midnight Jewel entered at Fakenham, and Maninsane, Supremely Lucky and Carlow Farmer all entered at Uttoxeter. Entries across three meetings on Saturday include Teenage Dirtbag and Stroll On By at Ffos Las, Glimpse Of Gala, Maninsane, Due Reward and Beyond The Clouds at Market Rasen and finally, Tea For Free, The Wise Traveller and Nightfly at Stratford.
