THE MIGHTY ARC makes the trip to Sedgefield worth it!

17 January 2022

We started off the weekend with a winner. The Mighty Arc made the long trip up to Sedgefield at 5am worth it on Friday, when he won comfortably under Brian Hughes. He made all, jumped superbly and put in a polished performance in the Novices’ Handicap Chase. We are absolutely delighted for owners Leon & Thornton Families. Peter’s Portrait did not make such a great return to the track after his 417 days break when falling at the 11th fence at Huntingdon. Thankfully he is fine, and we can look forward to the next outing.

A quiet start to the week, no runners until Wednesday when Alghazaal is declared for Newbury, Sam Twiston Davies takes the ride. He was disappointing on his hurdling debut when weakening quickly up the home straight, after pleasing us in all his work at home. Since then, he has had a wind op, so we are hoping for an improved performance.

Lilly Pinchin was in to ride out this morning and rode four lots.

Entries for this week include Éclair On Line, Alghazaal, Hector Javilex and Glimpse Of Gala at Ludlow on Thursday, Illegal Model at Lingfield Friday, Lyrical Genius at Ascot on Saturday with Just Your Type and Moon King at Haydock. To finish the week off Carlow Farmer and Just Your Type are in at Lingfield on Sunday and Byzantium Lad at Warwick. The Winter Million at Lingfield is a great initiative with brilliant prize money, so we are looking forward to seeing the outcome of that event. It has also been announced that all ARC racecourses are boosting prize money, which is great especially for the lower grade races.
