31 December 2020
... and just like that it is nearly 2021! What a year it has been. For the yard we reached some milestones, training over 600 winners and training a winner at every UK jumps track! Our horses have been in great form this season, and we hope it continues. This year saw a lot of new recruits, and a few of our golden 'oldies' have retired. The whole world came to a stop, including racing in March, something I never thought would happen and I have been so grateful for the continued efforts of everyone to try and keep the show on the road.
To end the year we just have one runner at Warwick, Shah An Shah ridden by Aidan Coleman. On Tuesday we had Freethinker at Newbury who was wearing a hood for the first time. He was dropped right out, and began to settle after the first, before making a mistake and unseating Will Kenendy at the third - frustrating, but that is racing for you! He is fine and we will look for another race for him in a couple of weeks.
We have no runners New Years Day, another quiet day for us which is unusual as it is normally very busy. Cheltenham is also off due to waterlogging. However we send two up to Ayr tomorrow for racing on Saturday, Illegal Model and Carlow Farmer, both ridden by Brian Hughes. Ballydine heads to Sandown for the Veterans' final on Saturday and Louse Talk goes to Hereford. Sunday we have Do Wanna Know and Thinque Tank entered up at Catterick.
Happy New Year!
