BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND
You would never believe we are nearing the end of May - the temperatures were down to 5 degrees yesterday and the day before. It was bitterly cold and it was blowing a gale. Thankfully the weather is slightly better today and hopefully we will have a bit of sun for the bank holiday weekend.
We will have a few runners tomorrow. Azure Fly and Dom Lukka go to Fontwell and then Venceremos and Humphrey Bee take their chance at Uttoxeter. We really do need a slight change of luck..... the horses that have run on the flat have gone extremely well, but a few of the jumpers have looked like they have needed the run. Do not get me wrong, some of the horses that run at this time of year need all the help they can get and when you see all the different types of headgear on them, you know it is not going to be easy to win!! One thing I can say, is that the horses are 100% healthy and we just need our luck to change. Hopefully that will happen tomorrow.
AF is having his first run for us and he goes very nicely at home and I think he should go close. DL is dropping in grade and he did not quite see the 2m6f out last time so we are dropping him back to 2m4f. At Uttoxeter Venceremos was desperately unlucky in falling last time and if she puts in a clear round will have an eachway chance. HB will probably be having his last run. Unless he shows huge improvement, he will go home next week.
Depending on the weather at Cartmel, Grandads Horse could make the long trip up the M6 on Monday. He has been hard to get fit, having had a year on the sidelines, but I am confident we are there now and the step up in trip should help - the older he has got has slightly blunted his old speed.
Cheltenham have their final big Sale of the season next Wednesday. There will be nearly 100 horses selling, all of whom have got some very strong point to point and under rules form. I am half way through looking at the catalogue and there will be horses for every price range....
