Leith Hill Lad has really come into his own within the last month, winning two Handicap Chases, the first was at Kempton where he also won his Novice Hurdle and the second at Exeter. Johnny rode him to win at Kempton, giving him plenty of daylight into his fences and a very positive ride. He raced upsides Leglockluke and Tom O’Brien who ended up taking the ride at Exeter and similarly giving him a positive ride. Leith Hill Lad has taken time to grow into himself and is now repaying his owner-breeders patience.
Johnny missed the second win on Leith Hill Lad as he was riding at Huntingdon where he gave Jet Set a fantastic spin to win a Mares Novice Hurdle by 9 lengths. She has always pleased us at home and had been placed in her first three runs for us this season before unfortunately falling when in control of her race at Sandown 2 hurdles from home. She is a mare who will progress next season and has the size and scope to be an exciting novice chaser. Her aim for next season will be to get ‘black type’.
