Vivas notched up a double in Novice Handicap Chases in just over a fortnight on his first two starts over fences. He is not the biggest in the yard, however he is a bunny over fences and has the will to win. He is best with something to aim at and Johnny gave him a great ride at Plumpton in a three horse race when one fell, forcing Richard Johnson to take the lead and allowing Vivas to settle in behind, preventing him from idling in front. He will be one to watch in a big Handicap Chase later on in the season.
Monty’s Award has been extremely frustrating, he has plenty of ability, however he looses his head in the race. We always thought he was well handicapped off 116 but we were keen to get his head in front in an easier race before targeting any better races however the Fixed Brush Final at Worcester has been his target for the past couple of months. It was great to get him back in the winners enclosure and hopefully the confidence boost will see him back there again off his new mark of 121.
