Having led for most of the race Wells De Lune was headed after making a mistake three from home at Wetherby and when battling to keep second he fluffed the last fence at which point we all thought he was booked for third place. Fortunately he then sprouted wings to battle on up the home straight towards the winning line to win by half a length. It was a tough, hard fought race in which he showed plenty of grit and determination to get up by 1/2 a length. Brian Hughes gave him an excellent ride.
Over at Cheltenham, Lambeau Field put up an excellent run to finish third in the JCB Triumph Trial Juvenile Hurdle Grade 2. He was bought from the Tattersalls Horses In Training Sale and has had 2 runs over hurdles prior to joining us. This was his first run for us and he put up a brave effort. The front two finished clear of the rest but he has shown some promise of more to come.
