Alan Roche – Head Lad
Roche joined us in 2008 as Head Lad, having previously worked for Jonjo O’Neill in the same role for 14 years. He is an excellent horseman, and his knowledge of the horses is superb. He is in charge of the horses’ care and maintenance in the yard as well as making sure all the staff know what they are doing. Roche also breaks in our young horses and does a brilliant job with them.
Emma Batten – Racing Secretary
Emma has now been with us since 2009, she is a huge asset to our team! Having previously worked as a racing secretary for Jonjo O’Neill. She set up the office when we moved to Hull Farm and keeps things running smoothly, she also does the accounts and rides out.
Rachel Lander - Assistant Trainer
Rachel has rejoined us here at Hull Farm, her previous role included riding out, being in charge of the feeding and assisting our Head Lad. She will now be representing Charlie at the races, communicating with and entertaining owners. She will also carry out a variety of office duties throughout the day when not racing including running the social media accounts.
Lauren Hay – Pupil Assistant
Lauren has recently arrived with us having spent six years at Jonjo’s. She will be working alongside Emma in the office and also riding out each morning. Along with going to the races with Owners and helping saddle. Her favourite horse is Imperial Jade.
Jess Benfield - Travelling Head Groom
Jess has been with us since she was 16 and is one of the top work riders in the yard, especially on young horses. She provides a wealth of experience at the racecourse turning out the horses immaculately. She is currently in maternaity leave having given birth to Tommy-Lee Quirk on Grand National day! We look forward to having her back soon.
Lilly Pinchin - Stable Jockey
Lilly joined as Charlie's conditional jockey back in 2022 and rode out her claim in Novemebr 2023 to turn professional. She is a very deidcated individual who comes in 2 to 3 times a week to work and school the horses, between riding out at other yards during the week. She has ridden numerous winners for CLR over the last 2 seasons, aboard the likes of Midnight Jewel, Hector Javilex, Tea For Free, Big City Roller, Maninsane etc. We look forward to successful 24/25 season!
Elizabeth Gale - Conditional Jockey
Elizabeth joined us at the start of the 24/25 season as our conditional jockey. She has gained a huge amount of experience at Philip Hobb's Racing over the past 4 years, with her most notable winner at Aintree in the veteran's handicap chase last season. We look forward to her riding some winners for us this season!
Georgia Brearey - Stable Staff
Georgia finally joined the team full time three years ago, having ridden out on Saturdays for the past few years while studying at school. Nothing is ever too much of a problem, and she is a lovely quiet rider. Georgia has built up a fantastic partnership with Freethinker and Ginger Jonny and she is a huge asset when being entrusted to do ‘flat work’ with the horses.
Macy Genco - Stable Staff
The life and soul of the yard! Macy joined us in January 2024 on her return to the UK after a summer in Australia. She previously worked for Graham McPherson and Fergal O'Brien, before heading to Australia to work for Feek Racing. She has also ridden winners in point-to-point as an amateur jockey.
Sarah Hache - Stable Staff
Sarah joined us earlier this year as a capable rider and stable staff. She grew up in Argentina and moved to the UK when she turned 18. She has previous experience working in polo, eventing and racing so has been a great additon to the yard.
Rhiannon Donghue - Stable Staff
Rhiannon moved down south not long ago, and previosly worked for the Ellis'. She has made a name for herself as a horse behavioural training specialist and also turns her hand to barrel racing when she can! She has fitted into the yard well and has really taken to the racing world!
Zeniy Glyebov
Zeniy is a crucial member of the staff, able to turn his hand to repair most things, as well has helping with the mucking out, bedding up and any general maintenance around the yard. Zeniy is a massive asset to the team, he is always happy and can turn his hand to anything.
Vadym Masik
Vadym is in his eighth season with us, he is a good yardman and in charge of making sure all the bedding up is done in the yard and the hay.
The main team is supported by regular work riders Will and Freya.
