A nice performance by Moon King up at Catterick on Wednesday. Lilly Pinchin set a strong pace and made all in the 3m1f contest, just getting headed on the final strides. It was brilliant to see Moon King battle all the way to the line, and it was just unlucky to finish 2nd. He has come out of his race well and is happy out in the field in the cold sunshine.
Eclair On Line headed back to Wincanton where he finished 3rd the last day. The form from that race has worked out well and he was running a creditable race yesterday before falling three out. Thankfully he is ok and is also happy out in the field this morning. We will give him a few days to get over the fall before deciding a new target for him.
Freethinker and Alghazaal had a night away at Newcastle last night. They both had a leg stretch on the track this morning before they run this afternoon. It appears that they are both at the top of the betting today. Freethinker looks to repeat his efforts from last time out, when winning under Lilly Pinchin at the same track. She takes the ride today. Alghazaal makes his handicap debut under Brian Hughes.
Scene Not Herd is declared in the Listed Chase at Sandown on Saturday with regular rider Johnny Burke on board. This is another step up in class for Scene Not Herd. Hopefully he can look to retain his unbeaten chase record. You may notice he has been confirmed for the Plate Handicap Chase at Cheltenham this morning. However, this is only a precautionary confirmation. Almazhar Garde has also been confirmed for the festival in the Kim Muir Amateur Jockey’s race. Mr M J M O’Sullivan has been jocked up at this stage. We also have Rivarros running at Hereford on Saturday, Alan Johns on board. He has not yet shown much on the racecourse, although he is looking and working better than ever at home.
To round up the weekend we have Everyonesgame running in the bumper at Warwick under a penalty on Sunday. Bradley Roberts takes the ride and will claim 7lb. He will look to keep his strike rate for Charlie Longsdon Racing at 100%.
We have Train Hill entered at Taunton and Oscar Montel entered at Stratford on Monday. Stratford Racing Club own both Oscar Montel and Jamacho. We are looking forward to welcoming them to Hull Farm on Monday morning before heading off for an afternoon’s racing in their private box. A perfect start to the Cheltenham week.
Despite us having a limited number of runners at Cheltenham, we do have lots of entries for elsewhere. On Tuesday If I Say has an entry at Sedgefield, but also at Huntingdon on Wednesday. Haas Boy, Tea For Free, Largy Nights, The Wise Traveller, Gaelic Park and Everyonesgame also hold entries at Huntingdon. A few of them are also entered at Hexham on Thursday, Largy Nights, The Wise Traveller, Tea For Free, Train Hill and Glebe Road.
Enjoy the weekends racing. If you are heading to Cheltenham Festival, please feel free to pop in for a morning on the gallops. Start your day right!
