It is the closing day for entries to all the Cheltenham handicaps today. Have have to have entered any horse we are thinking about running in one of the hurdle or chase handicaps by 12pm this morning. It does mean we have entered a few horses. Below is a list of entries:
Western Miller has been given entries in both the Grand Annual and The Brown Advisory
Just Your Type and Vivas are entered in the Kim Muir and Ultima
The Vollan in the Coral Hurdle and the Martin Pipe
Forth Bridge in the Ultima and Brown Advisory
Almazhar Garde and Montys Award in the Close Brothers
A few of the above such as Montys Award, Almazhar Garde and Forth Bridge, might well not get in their respective races, but the entry is still important because if they were to be ballotted out of their respective races, they would head to Kempton on the Saturday for a consolation race. Forth Bridge won it last year and it is great prize money.....
Before then racing is in a bit of chaos. Quite a few meetings this week are on the verge of being abandoned due to flooding and being waterlogged. A few will be fine, but it could be very soft going everywhere and also with so much racing being off recently it could create very strong racing.... We will have to look at all the races carefully before deciding whether to run horses or not.
