5 August 2020

Yesterday was a sad day for all of us at Hull Farm as we said goodbye to a great yard favourite in Forth Bridge. He has been retired up to Sandringham and this winter will head down to Windsor for new adventures. He will have a long happy retirement and will be great fun at anything he puts his hand to.

He might have only won four races in his career (1 flat, 2 hurdles and 1 chase), but he won almost £100,000 in prize money. Having won at Haydock for Michael Bell on the flat he came to us in the Winter of 2016/17. He immediately showed us a great aptitude for jumping and we knew we had a nice horse on our hands. His two biggest wins came in the Listed Juvenile hurdle at Musselburgh in February 2017 and then under a great ride from Nico de Boinville he won the valuable Cheltenham consolation race at Kempton in March 2019. He will leave a hole in the yard, but it was the right time for his retirement as he was just not loving the game like he used to.....

On the racing front, this week has so far been a bit of a disappointment. Fanfaronade did not progress from her good run last time and Kapsize did not like being bullied by Dickie Johnson - back to the drawing board for both of them.....!! The only other we will have now before next Monday is Montys Award tomorrow at Stratford. The form of his second has worked out well and i would expect a strong run tomorrow evening - fingers crossed!!
