A weekend of ups and downs for Team Longsdon. On Friday we had Local Affair making her debut over fences at Market Rasen. She was just getting into the races and sadly suffered a fatal fall, luckily Paul was alright. We are devastated, and she really did not deserve that. Our condolences go out to her owners Slater, Stockwood and Nicholson Partnership, and to Vlad her used to ride her out every day. It is an odd feeling driving back with an empty box.

Saturday saw Oscar Montel make his English debut for us, and over fences Hexham. We were pleased with his run to finish a strong second, he just needed to stick his neck out over the line! He will have come on massively from this run, and we cannot wait to see him out next time. As I mentioned previously, there are still a few 5% shares left in Oscar Montel, with a FREE Annual Membership at Stratford Racecourse. Please get in touch to buy a share – there are sure to be some fun days out!

Jess and Tom had quite the Northern weekend, when travelling up to Hexham and then on to Perth with Oscar Montel and Beyond The Clouds. They stayed overnight in Perth and I think Jess and Tom got up early to run the track! Beyond The Clouds made it two from two over fences when just getting his head in front at Perth under Brian Hughes. We are delighted for owner Rob Aplin and must say a big thank you to Jess and Tom for their efforts this weekend. We have a great team here at Hull Farm.

Tom had his first ride back from injury on Friday at Market Rasen, and it was great to see that be a winner for Nigel Hawke. He had another ride at Hexham to come second, so we are looking forward to seeing him riding some winners on our horses soon.

We have had lovely weather here this weekend, and we are all enjoying the sunshine. It was a bit of a contrast when watching the Epsom Derby meeting and the massive downpour of rain on the Friday. It looked relentless and changed the going to soft. Snowfall looked impressive in The Oaks, and it was great to see Adam Kirby win the Derby, it was extremely well deserved, and he gave a heartfelt interview. We are looking forward to Royal Ascot in a couple of weeks.

Present Storm is declared at Southwell tomorrow, Brian Hughes takes ride. We are looking forward to seeing how she runs. The Vollan is entered on Friday in two races at the Aintree evening meeting.
