5 December 2022
It was a busy weekend of racing with runners at three meetings on Saturday. The race of the day was the Becher Chase at Aintree. Snow Leopardess was bidding to retain her Becher Crown. Sadly, it was not to be, but she still ran a cracker. As we know, she would have preferred softer going and due to not getting a proper run in at Warwick, she probably got a bit tired and needed the run. Gaelic Park also ran at Aintree. He ran in a hot Novice hurdle, and despite not having the finishing pace he stayed on well. He may well need a step up in trip.
Well Dick made his rules debut at Chepstow. He ran a great race under Jack Quinlan and stayed galloping all the way to the line to finish 2nd. He is a big raw youngster who will have learnt lots and will also prefer softer going. There is lots to look forward too. Almazhar Garde took to the track at Sandown in the London National. He looked to be enjoying himself a bit too much out in front with Lilly Pinchin, and just got tired when it got to the business end. On Sunday Potters Hedger made his yard debut and despite being a 10yo it was also his chase debut. It did not quite go to plan, and we will go back to the drawing board.
This morning we were able to school out on the top field, yay! Although, it is still rather quick up there and with no rain forecast and a few frosts potentially on the way I think it will be used rather sparsely for a while. However, Parramount, Ardbraccan, Alien Storm and What About Time all jumped beautifully for Lilly and Paul.
This week we have George Bancroft at Fontwell tomorrow, Aidan Coleman rides. On Wednesday Éclair On Line and Scene Not Herd are declared at Leicester. Lilly Pinchin and Johnny Burke ride respectively. Entries on Thursday include Alghazaal at Taunton, and Ardbraccan, Haas Boy and Lyrical Genius at Warwick. Guetapan Collonges is entered at Bangor and Hector Javilex at Cheltenham on Friday. As well as Catuaba, Tommy Cullen and Stroll On By being entered at Doncaster. Doncaster is also on Saturday, and we have two entries with Castle Robin and Maninsane. Calidad, Catuaba, Tommy Cullen and What About Time hold entries at Hereford. Finally, on Sunday, Largy Nights, Cautaba and Tommy Cullen are all entered at Southwell.
Have a good week everyone.
