Well, it’s been a week full of rain here at the yard, it hasn’t stopped raining for a minute! We can only thank our brilliant team for keeping the show on the road in what has been a horrible week of weather. They have been riding out in their waterproofs every day getting drenched, they are so tough and we are incredibly grateful.
But not everyone has been moaning about the weather, one soul in particular has been thriving in the conditions, yesterday’s winner – Big City Roller! He loves the mud and showed true grit under a fantastic ride from Lilly Pinchin at Lingfield. Seeing him cross the line in front put a smile on everyone’s face, he was greeted with plenty of pats and cheers, a brilliant day for all involved. More importantly, this morning he’s sound and a very happy boy!
Over the next week there is no signs of rain stopping so we’ve decided not to run anything on the weekend, while a few horses thrive in this heavy ground, there are many who don’t and we will continue to be patient with those. That said, the staff will no doubt make the most of quieter weekend after a wet and sodden week!
A few clear days would be most welcome so things can slightly dry up, and we can get the horses back out in the field, where they love to be!
