6 September 2021
It always seems to be the way, as soon as the children head back to school the nice weather returns. It has been a lovely sunny weekend, followed by a warm day today. It was nice to welcome back our local country show, Moreton Show. There was racing at Stratford so I could not attend, however many of the staff did and had a great day out in the sunshine. We have to make the most of it, as it looks as though it will rain towards the end of the week and our summer will be over. Ironically, we will welcome the rain in preparation for the winter horses debut outings!
Jamacho ran at Stratford on Saturday, he ran a respectable race back over hurdles to come 3rd. Champagne Noir is declared back over hurdles at Uttoxeter on Wednesday. All our horses have been running solid races without getting their head in front, which is slightly frustrating! There are no further entries for the week, however The Vollan and Train Hill are entered into the sales at Doncaster on Wednesday. At the moment it just looks as though it will be The Vollan, who won last time out for us. As the horses step up their work routine, we do plan to take a few to Lambourn later on in the week for an away day for some schooling and a canter up the back of the hill.
It was a sad day on Saturday when we said goodbye to Tom. He has left Charlie Longsdon Racing and is planning on going to Paul Nicholls. We wish him the best of luck and will be keeping an eye on him at the races! This does also mean that we will be looking for another young lad to come up through the ranks.
