It was fantastic to come home from Musselburgh with a winner, it also makes the journey home a bit easier. Glen Forsa put his best foot forward, jumped and travelled through the race strongly to see him back in the winner’s enclosure. Lorcan Williams, not someone who has ridden for us before, gave him a brilliant ride in the most horrendous conditions, strong gusts of winds and rain. Glen Forsa is a lovely big horse who still retains his old enthusiasm, so it is great to see him be rewarded. Lyrical Genius also made the journey up to Musselburgh and we knew it was a tough task for him to beat the two Irish horses, but with the prize money on offer and it being a three runner race we had to take our chance. Brian Hughes reported that the track was too tight for him, and he was flat out from the word go. He made a bad mistake down the back and then lost touch with the leaders. They are both back home safe and out in the field after the holiday in Scotland. It certainly is a long way and took around six and a half hours each way, and we had quite a good run. A couple of the other yards were on the road for a lot longer. A big thank you to Amber, Jess and Lee who did a brilliant job of ensuring the safety and comfort of the two horses.
We have had the highest trainer strike rate over the last 14 days at 36% and 45% running to form which is not a bad statistic to have, according to Timeform. The horses continue to run well, and we hope to keep it up.
Our other runner of the weekend was Alghazaal at Sandown on Saturday. He was in a strong Novice Hurdle to finish out the back, however he jumped and travelled nicely. He is sure to have more ability I think, and we are yet to unleash it. We had no runners on Sunday, and there are no runners today. Shah An Shah and Guetapan Collonges head to Market Rasen tomorrow, Jonathan Burke and William Kennedy ride respectively. Lilly Pinchin was in to ride out this morning, and she rode three lots.
Largy Nights, Peter’s Portrait and Moon King have entries at Doncaster on Thursday. On Friday Byzantium Lad and Gaelic Park are entered at Bangor, while Almazhar Garde and Alien Storm are entered at Kempton. Stroll On By has been entered for the Listed bumper at Newbury on Saturday, as well as being entered at Warwick along with Gaelic Park, The Mighty Arc and Carlow Farmer. Finally, The Queen, Snow Leopardess, has been entered at Exeter on Sunday.
