Hoot At Midnight finally got her day on Friday and ran to victory with her ears pricked at Fontwell under Charlie Deutsch, who seems to be the key to this horse. She jumped foot perfect around the figure of eight course and was always doing just enough to stay in front and bring us up to 20 winners for the season. It is a much deserved win, and she seems to have got more confident with every run. We are delighted for owners and breeders Neil & Jane Maltby, they have been very patient, and it has paid off.
What About Time made his seasonal debut back on the track, after being off for nearly a year at Ludlow on Thursday. They went off at a steady pace, and it turned into a sprint. He stayed on the same pace down the home straight but is just not quick enough for a race run like that. In time he will be a staying chaser, and it won’t be long before we run him over a fence.
The Wise Traveller ran at Warwick on Friday under David Bass again. The Wise Traveller travelled well, before weakening three out in a stronger race. Hopefully he will now get a handicap mark and we can assess our options moving forward. Supremely Lucky took to the track at Aintree on Saturday, giving Dylan, our young conditional, a ride at a big Saturday meeting and taking 10lb off his back. He was disappointing to finish out the back over hurdles. Finally, Vivas was at Sandown yesterday in the Veterans’ Chase with Paul on board. On the back of his run last time out we were hoping for a good run, however he pulled up two out.
Due Reward heads to Kempton today with Paul on board in a Handicap Chase. We are hoping for a better run than last time out and have done lots of schooling with him. On Tuesday Shah An Shah goes to Lingfield in the Handicap Hurdle with Jonathan Burke on board. It is then Snow Leopardess, half sister to Shah An Shah, who heads to Bangor on Wednesday with Aidan Coleman steering, and Charlie Deutsch will ride If I Say. Finally, Castle Robin has been declared for Exeter on Wednesday with Paul taking the ride.
Entries for the weekend include Glencassley and Maninsane at Cheltenham on Friday, and Carlow Farmer, Nightfly and The Mighty Arc at Worcester. On Saturday, Just Your Type, Saint Dalina, No No Tango and Zesftul Hope are all entered at Uttoxeter and Glencassley is entered at Wetherby. Finally, Parramount is entered in the Listed Bumper at Cheltenham on Sunday, and Nightfly and Almazhar Garde hold entries at Fontwell on Sunday.
