A very spring like feeling in the air at the moment, bright sunshine, a bitter breeze, and rapidly changing ground… once again! However, it is great to see so many of the horses being able to go out in the field daily at the moment. We try to get ours turned out as much as possible to give them time to relax and chill out.
Johnny Burke was in to ride one out this morning, he schooled The Mighty Arc first lot around the ring, along with Paul on Glencassley, and Kane on Due Reward. They all jumped beautifully, as expected. Largy Nights also had a pop in the school with Brad on board, he is a clever neat jumper. Second lot Parramount, Vivas and Carlow Farmer all jumped on the grass over the hurdles. It is great to see Parramount becoming more efficient over his fences, he has so much scope and is starting to channel it in the right direction.
Every Wednesday is also the day the vet comes to visit the yard. We have been used to having Dave and Thady from Donnington Grove for a number of years now. However, it was a sad day today due to it being Thady’s last visit to Hull Farm as he moves on to pastures new. We will miss him and wish him the best of luck in his new role.
No runners yesterday but Moon King is off to Catterick for the Handicap Hurdle this afternoon with Lilly Pinchin on board. On Thursday Éclair On Line is declared for Wincanton and Johnny Burke takes the ride in the Novices’ Chase. An overnight to Newcastle is on the cards Thursday with last time out winner Freethinker and Alghazaal being declared. Lilly Pinchin and Brian Hughes ride respectively.
Freethinker and Guetapan Collonges are entered up at Ayr on Saturday, however Freethinker goes to Newcastle, and we may wait a week or so with Guetapan. Rivarros is entered at Hereford and Scene Not Herd along with The Mighty Arc are in at Sandown on Saturday. Alghazaal has been declared for Newcastle so will not go to Bangor on Sunday, but Everyonesgame and Gaelic Park may go to Warwick. Train Hill is entered at Taunton on Monday and Oscar Montel is in at Stratford. We are really looking forward to the first meeting back at Stratford and look forward to seeing lots of our Stratford Racing Club members in their private box. If I Say is entered at Sedgefield on Tuesday. Both Glen Forsa and Castle Robin were scratched from the Ultima and Novice Chase at Cheltenham on the Tuesday today.
