It’s been another lovely week here at the yard, we are still very much enjoying our National Hunt racing break. The horses have been making the most of some well-earned field time, enjoying the sunshine and taking a chance to relax before they come back in early to beat the heat of the day.
The good weather certainly puts everyone in the yard in good spirits, and there’s a lovely atmosphere around the place at the moment. That said, we are becoming increasingly desperate for a bit of rain! The grass is crying out for some moisture, and the ground could certainly do with a good drink too. Everything is starting to look a little beige around here, so a few days of proper British summer rain would be very welcome!
Our dentist has also been in every week, steadily working his way through his list and making sure all the horses are in good shape. There’s always plenty to keep us busy during the quieter months, even when the racing calendar takes a little breather.
We’re now looking ahead to the return of racing and are excited to get going again with the summer jumpers. At the same time, thoughts are turning towards the winter horses, who will soon be coming back into routine and beginning their cantering work.
For now, we’ll continue to make the most of the sunshine, enjoy seeing the horses happy in their fields and enjoy what’s left of the break!
