It’s been a strange few weeks without runners due to the 3 week break in National Hunt Racing, it’s safe to say the atmosphere feels a little different when we’re not out and about. That’s not to say we haven’t enjoyed the quiet time, nor have we been twiddling our thumbs! Some of the horses are back in the routine of building up fitness while others have had their first canters of the season. It’s been great to see the horses back in work, looking well and feeling fresh!
The break has also given us a chance to get a few things done around the yard like putting a new drive in, sprucing up the gallops and making sure the yard is ready to go for the season ahead. The staff have been working hard, as always, most of them have been happy to be re-united with their favourite horses.
The weather is very hot this week, we have had highs of 32, the horses have appreciated staying in their cool barns while the staff are fuelling themselves with lots of ice cream.
