A beautiful morning at Hull Farm on the eve of Cheltenham, proper winter sun. Lilly Pinchin was in to ride out and rode three. The Wise Traveller, Due Reward, Glebe Road, and Haas Boy all had a pop on the grass. We will be seeing them out on the track soon. It was great to welcome Stratford Racing Club to the yard to see Jamacho out on the gallops, before heading on to Stratford and watching Oscar Montel and Brian Hughes in action. It is the first meeting with the obstacles changed to white from orange. It will be interesting to see how the horses take to the new colour. This is a brilliant meeting at Stratford, and often a warmup for people before heading to Cheltenham. You also know summer is on its way when Stratford is back!
We had a few weekend runners. After Freethinker delighted at Newcastle, Alghazaal also took to the track. He was disappointing and ran quite keen early on, and therefore not quite getting home. Scene Not Herd got stuck in the mud at Sandown, and certainly prefers the better going. Rivarros stopped extremely quickly at Hereford, after he looked to be running a nice race and jumping well. Finally, Everyonesgame put in another pleasing performance to come 2nd at Warwick under Bradley Roberts. The winner looks a very smart horse.
A very few numbers of runners at Cheltenham for us, hopefully Almazhar Garde in the Kim Muir on Thursday. However, there is also racing elsewhere this week and we have two heading to Huntingdon on Wednesday. Haas Boy and Largy Nights have been declared, Sean Quinlan and Paul O’Brien ride. There are a few entered at Hexham on Thursday as well. The Wise Traveller, Tea For Free, Glebe Road, and Train Hill. On Friday there is sadly nothing in the Gold Cup, but The Wise Traveller and Tea For Free are also entered at Doncaster. Illegal Model and Gaelic Park hold entries at Uttoxeter on Saturday, and Peters Portrait with Tea For Free have entries at Chepstow Sunday.
