Good news… Charlie is out of hospital and in recovery. It should not be too much longer until he is back up and out at the yard.
Yesterday saw Storm Goddess run an absolute cracker in the Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham under Brian Hughes to come 2nd. We were really pleased with her effort, and she looks to be improving well over this further trip. It was so nice to see members of the Don Sebastiao syndicate at Cheltenham. I was rather jealous when they got escorted off to drink champagne and watch the race replay, I had to stay behind the white railings in my zone. The Don Sebastiao syndicate also own a lovely youngster called No No Tango who is off to Lambourn tomorrow with recent recruit Maxi Jazz. It will be great to see how these to work on their away day.
Tea For Free and Parramount headed home for their holidays today. It is the time of year where we start to quieten down, and the winter horses have their summer breaks. We have not got any runners now until potentially Sunday at Stratford where Champagne Noir might be declared in the Handicap Chase. He has been away at Marcus Foleys’ doing some loose jumping and schooling work, he did not jump great last time out and we wanted to sharpen him up. He has returned looking great and feeling very fresh. We look forward to seeing him back out.
Everyone looked very smart riding out this morning in full Merribelle Stable kit, as we have now received our branded hat silks, and the last of our riding out coats.
Next week we only have two entries so far, Midnight Jewel at Southwell on Tuesday and Vivas at Ludlow on Wednesday.
