It feels like a little while since our last update, but despite the quieter period on the racing front, there's been plenty happening around the yard.
The summer months have brought a welcome opportunity to give the yard a makeover for the winter ahead, stables have been steam cleaned and the painting continues. There always seems to be another project on the list, and we're making good progress!
Many of our National Hunt horses are currently enjoying their well-earned holidays. They've certainly earned the chance to relax and recharge after a busy season, although I'm sure both horses and humans would appreciate a little more sunshine than we've had so far! Hopefully the weather gods will be kind to us as summer progresses. This also includes our staff, they have all been taking well-earned holidays to recharge their batteries ahead of the NH Season.
While a large portion of the team are out in the paddocks, our summer runners are ticking along nicely and keeping us busy. We have a runner at Stratford tomorrow, Whatyouwaitingfor, in the 3.15pm and we're looking forward to seeing how he gets on. It's always nice to have a few representatives flying the flag during the summer months while the winter horses enjoy their break.
Last week Charlie made the trip across to Ireland for the GOFFS Arkle Sale, where he successfully purchased two exciting new recruits for the yard. They're settling in well and we're just beginning the breaking-in process. There will be plenty of long reining over the coming weeks, which should certainly keep our head lad busy! It's always an exciting time welcoming new horses into the team, and we're looking forward to watching their progress as they begin the next stage of their education.
