There we a few sore heads on Tuesday morning, but everyone was in good spirits, and it was a fun night had by all for our annual Christmas party.
We seem to be having an unlucky run at the moment. If I Say was running a nice race and travelling well before falling 3 out with Charlie Deutsch. She did have to spend a night at the vets due to a nasty cut, however she is home now and tucked up nicely in her stable and she is ok which is the main thing. We have no runners today, but Illegal Model heads to Exeter tomorrow with Paul on board, lets hope he gets further than the 2nd fences this time out! Both Largy Nights and Éclair On Line, who have been off the track for over a year, will be making their return on Friday. Largy Nights heads to Ascot under Sam Twiston-Davies in a maiden hurdle. Éclair On Line goes to Uttoxeter in a Novice Chase with Paul on board, along with Glebe Road. Glebe Road is a recent purchase and has been impressing us so far at home. We are excited to see how he gets on and it is great to have the Cracker syndicate colours back in the yard.
A busy schooling morning, as it always is on a Wednesday. Paul and Will Kennedy were both in, and they jumped Illegal Model and Just Your Type around the circular gallop before we then headed out on the grass for the majority of the morning. Maxi Jazz, The Wise Traveller, Alghazaal and Horus Du Cerisier were the first four up. Maxi Jazz was meant to be the lead horse but turned out to be rather cheeky! However, they all jumped well, it was nice to see Horus Du Cerisier fly over the hurdles. We have not schooled him here yet and he was very good, Will Kennedy was complimentary of him. He recently joined us from the Yorton Sale and is For Sale. Next lot we had Carlow Farmer to lead Glencassley, Glebe Road and Rivarros. Rivarros was certainly excited to be leaving the ground for the first time this season. All four were good, and Carlow certainly relished his role as lead horse looking as though he really enjoyed himself. Carlow then led Stroll On By, Moon King and Zestful Hope. Stroll On By was jumping on the grass for the first time and impressed us all. He jumped professionally and took it all in his stride. It was also great to see Zestful Hope back to his normal self after his nasty incident in the bumper a few weeks back. Third lot was back to the school. Rare Edition and No Word, our recent recruits from the Cheltenham Sale, had a little pop around the two hurdles. They were both pleasing to watch. We then put a few canter poles out before the hurdles for Haas Boy, just to get him concentrating on his jumping. He is a great jumper but his mind can often wonder elsewhere when schooling!
Glencassley is entered for Ascot on Saturday along with Just Your Type and Moon King being entered at Haydock. No entries on Sunday, and just Freethinker and Maxi Jazz on Monday in at Plumpton. Please remember that Covid Passes are now required for entering the racecourse, and masks are to be worn.
