A quiet start to the week with no runners, unusual for this time of year, although we still have lots going on. Wednesday is always a busy morning with it being a farrier day, and also the regular vet visit day. Despite the quiet start to the week, Dysania heads to Ffos Lass today, one of the only tracks that shows ‘soft’ the moment! He makes his yard debut over fences and David Noonan takes the ride; we are intrigued to see how he runs. Tomorrow we send Zestful Hope to Market Rasen for his racecourse introduction, again we are looking forward to seeing how he runs.

Yesterday we sent High Yield and Byzantium Lad to Adlestrop for a gallop. Both worked nicely and will not be far away from the track. The trouble is, we have not had any rain and Byzantium Lad relishes the soft ground. Reading the going descriptions this morning, the majority of them all remain as Good, Good to Soft. The forecast does not seem to mention much rain either. Saying that, we are usually well wrapped up in our winter coats this time of year, but not this year! It is still very mild, and we have not had much of the cold weather yet.

We are still using the hurdles at the bottom of the gallop, which is usually bottomless by now and have not jumped over the fences in the top field either, due to it being to firm. Despite this, we still managed to school our ‘chasers’ - Glen Forsa, Castle Robin, Maxi Jazz, Byzantium Lad, Guetapan Collonges, Scene Not Herd and Champagne Noir – on the loop with the ditch board in front of the hurdles to make it a bit bigger. Alghazaal, Tea For Free, Moon King, Saint Dalina and Carlow Farmer all had a pop at the hurdles on the grass by the gallop.

No runners Friday, but Illegal Model is entered in the Stayer’s Hurdle at Haydock and Saint Dalina in a Mares’ Hurdle at Ascot on Saturday. Although, it is a similar story as most at the moment, and they probably will not run unless we get some more rain. Freethinker, Teenage Dirtbag and Guetapan Collonges are entered at Huntingdon on Saturday, and Guetapan also holds an entry on Sunday at Uttoxeter along with Tea For Free.
