23 November 2021

Firstly I apologise to all of you, our website has been down for a couple of days and below is the intended blog for yesterday. It should all be now up and running. Thank you for your patientce.

Now that is more like winter this morning, the first frost. The temperatures have dropped, and we had the exercise sheets out on the horses. You could see all the staff had an extra few layers on too! Despite the cold, the sun is still shining, and it was a beautiful morning. However, still no rain, and the majority of the going descriptions remain good. I am sure it will come all at once and then we will be complaining that we have had too much rain, British weather!

Teenage Dirtbag headed off to Huntingdon on Saturday, where our conditional Dylan Kitts took the ride again. He seems to remain a consistent horse this season and has finished in the top four nearly every time, yesterday he again finished 4th. He keeps galloping on the same race, but never quite does enough to get near the front. He was bumped around a bit on the home turn yesterday and this could have knocked his rhythm. However, the winner won very comfortably.

On Sunday we sent two runners to Uttoxeter, Guetapan Collonges and Tea For Free. Guetapan Collonges ran a good race under Will Kennedy to finish 3rd, he still looked rather green in his jumping and did slip up after the 8th fence but recovered well. We will look to step him up in trip next time out. Tea For Free was running a great race from the front under Paul O’Brien, however he weakened quickly before two out and got swallowed up. It was slightly disappointing especially as he had been running a nice race and Paul felt as though he did have a lot left beneath him turning in. This was not the case, and we will get him checked out.

Tomorrow we have Maxi Jazz declared at Sedgefield, he is making his debut for the Charlie Longsdon Racing Club. He seems really well in himself at home and jumped with exuberance last Wednesday, so we are hoping for a good run with Brian Hughes taking the reins. We also have Haas Boy heading off to Southwell, Haas Boy is a horse we think a lot of, and the form of his bumper last time out is proving strong. Aidan Coleman takes the ride.

On Wednesday we have three runners at Hereford. If I Say is declared in the Novices’ Hurdle with Sam Twiston Davies on board, Sam also rides Champagne Noir in the Handicap Chase. Raven Court is additionally declared in the Handicap Hurdle with Charlie Deutsch doing the steering.

There are lots of entries towards the end of the week and it could be rather busy. On Thursday Freethinker, Maxi Jazz and Hoot At Midnight are entered at Lingfield. On Friday Due Reward, Lyrical Genius, Raven Court and Moon King are entered at Doncaster, as well as Due Reward being entered at Newbury. There are four meetings on Saturday, to which we have entries in all. Byzantium Lad, What About Time, Lyrical Genius and Stroll On By are entered at Bangor. Only Alghazaal is entered at Doncaster, and Glen Forsa at Newbury although Glen was scratched from the Ladbrokes Trophy but entered in the Peter O’Sullevan Chase instead. Glen Forsa is also entered at Newcastle along with Scene Not Herd and Lyrical Genius. Finally, Saint Dalina, What About Time and Illegal Model are all entered at Carlisle on Sunday and George Bancroft has an entry for Leicester.
