I must apologise for the lack of update last week, it has been fairly hectic with a few runners along with Roche, Emma and Amber, as well as Will all away. However, we did welcome Brogan back from her working French holiday working for David Cottin in Chantilly. She thoroughly enjoyed herself, but we are glad to have her back, and straight on Glimpse Of Gala and Scene Not Herd, her two favourites. Last week we also welcomed back Nightfly and Highway Girl. It is great to have Highway Girl back in the yard after her nasty tendon injury which left her off for the past year. Guetapan Collonges also returned from his summer break in Ireland, and Maninsane has returned from his holiday and pre-training with Claire Hart. Maninsane had a nasty fall at the end of last season, and it was touch and go at times whether her would make it. We are glad to report he is back in training and loving it.
We had eight runners last week, and four of them came second. They have all been running well, but it would be great if we could get rid of seconditis! A busy day at Worcester on Wednesday where Beyond The Clouds ran in his 5th Novice Chase, and took on his summer rival Pisgah Pike again. However, this time Pisgah Pike got the better of us, and we ran another good race to finish second. Little Bruce was flat out from the word go and struggled to lay up with the pace to pull up three out. Midnight Jewel ran another promising race to finish fourth, just staying on one pace on the run in. Finally, Present Storm ran another fab race to finish second, and was just beaten by the better horse.
The following day, Thursday, was Jamacho’s turn to take to the stage. He ran in his first Novices’ Handicap Chase and ran a creditable race to finish 3rd. We were pleased with his jumping efforts and look forward to his chasing career.
To finish the week off we have three runners back at Worcester yesterday. Oscar Montel ran another consistent race, his fifth run of the summer for us, to finish second in a big step up in class. It really is a fun syndicate to be involved with and there is only one space left! Please get in touch if you want to purchase your share and join the fun. Hoot At Midnight probably ran her best race of her career to finish a fantastic second, it will not be long before her head is in front. Maxi Jazz was making his seasonal debut, and having his first run after his wind op, in the same race as Hoot. He probably needed the run, and we look forward to seeing him out next time.
There are no further entries this week, therefore we will have chance to get on top of everything before our owners’ day this Saturday. It must not go unmentioned that Amber and Will completed The Great Racing Welfare Cycle from Carlisle to Newton Abbot. It is a massive achievement, and we are super proud of them. A full debrief of the event will be given in this month’s newsletter. There is still time to donate if you have not already, and to those of you that have we are massively grateful.
