There’s a very different feel about the yard this week. For most horses, the summer has begun, they are rolling in the grass and switching off completely, while a few others are just days away from joining them.
The summer jobs have also begun! Stables that were occupied all winter are now being emptied, the pressure washer is ready to go, rugs are getting repaired and tack rooms are getting sorted!
It’s a quieter time but not an unimportant one. This is our time to have a full reset. Horses get a mental and physical break as do the staff, the yard gets a deep clean, and plans for the 26/27 season begin to take shape in the background.
For now, though, it’s all a bit calmer, a bit quieter and the staff are also having a well-earned rest!
