Horses for Sale

28th July 2022

Present Storm ran a nice race at Worcester under Paul O’Brien. However, it was not run to suit and turned into a sprint. She does not have the turn of foot for that. Despite coming 7th she was not beaten far. Paul was into ride out this morning, and he rode four lots. It is good to see how they are progressing this time of year, as well as how much they have benefitted for their summer holiday. They all look great, and the difference in some of them is magnificent.

Every Thursday is weigh day at Hull Farm. It is very interesting this time of year. It is really helpful in seeing how much weight they have put on during their summer holidays, as well as how quickly they are losing it. This means we can see how hard they are working and tailor their fitness journey.

Our brilliant dentist Dave Regan has been busy this week, ensuring all the horses’ teeth are in tip top condition heading into the season. We have also kept our osteopath, Jane Baker, and Physio, Flora Hurrell, busy. They tend to give each horse a routine check over when returning to work.

Due Reward was not declared for Bangor and is likely to go for Market Rasen on Sunday. He is also entered in the Doncaster sales next week, along with High Yield.

There are no entries for next week, due to the National Hunt annual August break.

Like everywhere else, it is extremely dry at Hull Farm. The fields look slightly scorched and are crying out desperately for some rain. We never want to wish for rain; however, it is very much needed. There may be a couple of showers over the weekend, but that is probably not enough.
