MIDNIGHT JEWEL runs a banger at Bangor!

29 September 2022

Midnight Jewel runs a banger at Bangor! Another positive, front running ride from Lilly Pinchin. That is now his 6th win from 9 runs! He has been a star and keeps improving. It was an honour to have HRH Princess Anne presenting the winning trophy. Congratulations to owner Gillian Morgan. Gillian also had Zestful Hope running at Southwell on Tuesday under Paul O’Brien. He ran a lovely race and will improve for the run.

Next up at Bangor was Stroll On By, he was making his hurdles debut for Old Gold Racing. Apart from being jumped across at the first fence, he jumped superbly and travelled well under Brian Hughes. He just got tired coming to the last and we will get his wind checked before next time out. The winner looked a smart horse, and unfortunately Stroll On By always seems to bump into that one better!

Peter’s Portrait back on track was running a cracking race under Lilly Pinchin. He was really enjoying himself out in front before blundering and unseating Lilly five from home. It is frustrating as he would have been in with a strong chance. However, that is the highs and lows of racing! Finally, Catuaba was making his yard and rules debut under James Best. On the face of it, he was disappointing. However, when dissecting the race, it will probably turn out to be a strong bumper and we know he is not a bumper horse. Catuaba is an out and out galloper and will relish with a step up in trip and a hurdle in front of him.

No Word is now a non-runner at Warwick. We declared her on the provision that we may get some rain. However, no rain has arrived, and it is still good ground. Hopefully the rain will come in the next week or so to see her out. Glimpse Of Gala and Somekindofstar still run, and we are looking forward to seeing their performances under Lilly Pinchin and Jack Quinlan.

Jack Quinlan was in to ride out this morning before heading off to Warwick. Adrian Heskin also rode out a few lots for us yesterday, alongside Lilly. Parramount and Caesar’s Palace went away schooling this morning. Aiden Coleman and Lilly took the ride. They both schooled superbly, and it will be exciting to see them both debut over hurdles very shortly.

Parramount, No Word, Oscar Montel and Jamacho are all in at Uttoxeter on Sunday, Oscar Montel is also in at Kelso. Caesar’s Palace, Parramount, George Bancroft and Tommy Cullen are in at Stratford Monday. Caesar’s Palace and Parramount are also in at Huntingdon Tuesday, along with half the yard! Calidad, Western Zephyr, Moon King, Lyrical Genius, Alghazaal and If I Say also hold entries. Finally, Haas Boy holds an entry at Ludlow where the ground is currently Firm. Therefore, rain is needed.
