This season our veterans have well and truly come to the fore. The ability to tailor their training regimes and plenty of turn out to encourage the horses to relax helps prolong their season and their racing career.

Loose Chips has won over £62,000 this season, winning two veterans' series qualifiers, and being placed in both the final and a couple of qualifiers. It was fantastic to watch Chips and Bob battle all the way up the run in. Bob Tucker ran a terrific race to finish a running on second, and it was good to see him running back to form., hopefully there is a race in him before the end of the season.

The Veterans series is a brilliant initiative which provides great prize money to encourage horses to race into their twilight years. Our two top earners for this season are Pete and Chips, Pete The Feat won the 2017 Final and will be aimed for the 2018 final as a 14 year old as he continues to show boundless enthusiasm for racing. Killala Quay won a qualifier at Doncaster, and will be looking at some more veterans' races in the future.
